Workshops
Is there really that much to it?
Imagine this...
Your daughter scored 34 on the ACT and has a 4.0 GPA. She wants to go to dental school at the University of Kentucky. You are sure she is a prime candidate for a full scholarship and even got the interview. They are giving 50 full scholarships.
You are low to middle income, and you don’t have much to pay toward the cost. You don’t want her to take out student loans for her undergraduate education ($26,000 per year), because she will have to for dental school. What do you think happened?
She only received $10,000 per year from the University of Kentucky.
In this instance, the student only had good grades and a great ACT score. Colleges and universities expect more.
With college expenses exceeding $26,000 per year on average, students need help navigating the road map to covering the costs of their education.
Our workshops help the parent and student develop a plan of action throughout junior high and high school enabling the student to be as competitive as possible.
We offer…
Workshops for parents and students focused on preparing competitive applications to colleges and universities.
Topics include: scholarships, financial aid, ACT, rigorous coursework, dual credit, and the importance of good grades.
The workshop covers essay preparation, importance of community service, college tours, letters of recommendation, and the college interview process.
Parents and students receive checklists for grades 7th - 12th.
Participants will receive information about enrichment opportunities making the student more competitive.
Each student will receive “The College-Bound Student’s Guide To Getting In” resource manual. These materials are organized in a binder by grade, so that the parent and student can add achievements, document community service, and keep track of important college dates.
